Kaiju Alpha Beginner Guide 2026: Your First Hour
Start on a free starter kaiju, learn the five skill keys plus the two roars, and farm Cells by damaging buildings and players before you spend on anything. Read the unlock card for the gate, not just the price. Update 52 added Shin Eva Godzilla, Skeleton Gojira 1954, Godzilla In Hell, a Daily Quest and a new island.

Get into the right version of the game first
Kaiju Alpha has been through enough updates that stale copies float around. The Daily Quest is the piece most likely to matter to a fresh account. It is a repeating task rather than a one-time unlock, so it pays while you do everything else on this list.
The control scheme, in full
There are seven bindings and no more. The developer lists them directly on the game page:

On PC the same buttons sit along the bottom of the screen, and tapping them works. On mobile the on-screen row is the only route, so bind the muscle memory to the button position rather than the number.
Two details catch people out. First, the two roars are different tools: R roots you in place, T does not. Second, and this one costs real fights, attacks cannot be performed while a roar is running. A roar started at the wrong moment is dead time.
Roar timing is the single biggest early-game skill. Practice R and T on scenery until you can start a roar without losing your target, then worry about which skill goes where.
Which kaiju to pick first
Pick a free one. The roster ships several starters that cost nothing: Godzilla 1954, Godzilla 1955, Anguirus and Gezora all appear at no Cell cost on the community roster table. They hit softly and they die fast, which is exactly what makes them good practice targets.
There is also a free unlock that is not on the Cell price list at all. Showa Ghidorah is listed as a free unlock for members of the SULU OPPA Roblox group. Joining the group costs nothing and takes about a minute, and it is the single cheapest meaningful upgrade available to a brand new account.
A free starter with a beam attack can outperform an expensive melee kaiju when three players are stacked together, because one beam connects with all three. Damage to players and buildings is the entire economy, so area coverage beats per-hit power early on.
Once the free options feel thin, the cheap ladder runs like this, taken straight from the community roster price table:

Every entry on that ladder is ungated. It is a pure savings decision, which means you can stop at any rung you like without being locked into the next one.
Learn to read an unlock card
The single most expensive beginner mistake is treating a Cell price as the whole requirement. Kaiju Alpha unlock cards carry two separate fields: a Cell cost and a gate. The gate is the level, kill count or collectible requirement, and it frequently costs more real time than the Cells do.
Space Godzilla is the clean example. Its published price is 500,000 Cells, and the gate on the same card is level 100 Heisei Godzilla, level 75 Biollante, and level 25 Godzilla Junior. Destoroyah Final Form is worse: 1,500,000 Cells, the highest published price in the game, plus level 100 on both Destoroyah Aggregate and Destoroyah Flying Form with 100 kills on each.
Neither gate is a Cells problem. Both are hours-of-play problems, and no amount of Cell farming shortens them.
A third category sits outside Cells entirely. Frostbite Godzilla, Thermo Godzilla and Burning Godzilla are gamepass kaiju, so they are bought with Robux rather than earned. Community roster accounts disagree about exactly which passes are currently on sale, so read the live card in game rather than trusting a wiki table.

Surviving your first ten fights
Stay mobile. Every kaiju has a burst window with a wind-up animation, and that animation is your only reliable tell. Punishing it early teaches you the game faster than any amount of damage racing.
Do not spend Cells on a second kaiju while the first is still under-leveled. The compound stat gains from one fully leveled form beat two half-built ones at the same total spend, and the difference shows up immediately in PvP. That is community consensus rather than a developer line, but it is consistent enough to treat as the default.
And do not walk past free money on the way out. There is one working code right now, redeemable from the main menu, and the codes page covers where the box is.
The code box does not exist mid-fight. You have to be dead, or not engaged in combat, and then use the Menu button above your skills and wait ten seconds before the main menu opens. Plan the trip rather than losing the round.
What Update 52 changes about your route
Three new kaiju landed with Update 52: Shin Eva Godzilla, Skeleton Gojira 1954 and Godzilla In Hell. None of them has a published Cell price or a published gate. The developer announcement names them and stops there.
That is not a gap in this guide, it is the actual state of the data. The in-game unlock card is the authority for all three until the community roster tables catch up and get checked against the live build.
The Daily Quest and the new island are the accessible half of the patch. Take the Daily Quest every time it resets. Sweep the new island for anything that pays in Cells, because those are the same Cells that buy the ungated ladder above.
FAQ
How many kaiju should I level at the start?
One. Push a single kaiju as far as you reasonably can before opening a second. Skill points arrive every five levels, so a second unleveled form contributes almost nothing in a fight while your Cells keep shrinking.
Is there a level cap in Kaiju Alpha?
Kaiju start at level 1 and the XP needed per level rises on a flat schedule. The hard cap is 200, and it is not reached by grinding: it comes from buying a Limit Break with Cells. Until you buy one, the natural cap is 100.
Do codes expire?
Yes, and quickly. The previous batch of Kaiju Alpha codes was retired almost as soon as the next update landed, which is why the expired table on the codes page is longer than the working list. Redeem the moment one works.
Can I fly in Kaiju Alpha?
Some kaiju can. Showa Mothra, Showa Jet Jaguar, Showa Hedorah, Showa Gigan, Showa Ghidorah, Space Godzilla and Destoroyah Final Form are all listed as flyers on the community roster. Most of the ground roster cannot, so pick your exploration kaiju with that in mind.
Where do I report something that looks wrong?
The developer posts news and events through the official Roblox group. The Discord carries faster day-to-day chatter, including early word on balance changes.
