Every Ride a Dino era and zone, from the Plains to the Abyss Ocean, plus Jurassic Airlines travel prices and what each zone is worth unlocking.
Ride a Dino Eras and Zones
Ride a Dino spreads its content across nine eras, and each one is a separate zone you unlock by travelling there. The developer's store description names five of them outright, the game's own badges name two more, and the Jurassic Airlines panel in the official preview video gives you the zone numbers and the terrain for the rest. Between those three sources you can reconstruct almost the whole map.

The Nine Eras
| Era or zone | Named in | What is confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Plains | Store description | The opening area. The Plains appear first in the description's list of nine eras. |
| Desert | Store description and airline panel | Confirmed as Zone 3 in the airline card for the Hopper. |
| Jungle | Store description | One of the first five eras the developer lists by name. |
| Snow | Store description and airline panel | Confirmed as Zone 5 by the Frostwing card. |
| Volcano | Store description | The developer names it explicitly among the eras you race through. |
| Forest | In-game badge | The badge "Into the Forest" reads "Rode the stampede into the Forest." |
| Giant Forest | Airline panel | Confirmed as Zone 6 by the Canopy Cruiser card. |
| Bone Badlands | In-game badge | The badge "Bone Badlands" reads "Rode the stampede into the Bone Badlands." |
| Abyss Ocean | Airline panel | Confirmed as Zone 7 by the Abyss Glider card. |
Read that table with one caveat: the airline panel is a travel menu, not a map legend. It shows you the zones you can currently buy a pass to, and it shows them in zone order. Zone 3 is Desert, Zone 5 is Snow, Zone 6 is Giant Forest, Zone 7 is Abyss Ocean. That leaves Zones 1, 2, 4, 8 and 9 unnamed in any first-party source we can verify, and the honest reading is that they hold the remaining eras, including Volcano and Bone Badlands.
Why Nine Eras Matter
Eras are the game's content clock. Every update can add a new era, a new dinosaur species in an existing era, or a new secret spawn. The official preview video and the store listing already mention that the map has nine eras, that there are more than fifty species, and that Secret Dinos show up only once in a while.
Practically, an era is where you go looking for something your current gear cannot catch:
- Early eras hold common species that are easy to tame and cheap to replace. They are where you earn the cash that funds the first machines and the first aura.
- Mid eras hold the species worth keeping, with the rarity bands that make a pen slot worth taking.
- Late eras hold the high-rarity finds and, occasionally, the secret spawns that the official advertising calls out.
The badge list proves the pacing: you earn "Into the Forest" and "Bone Badlands" as separate achievements, which means those are separate destinations on the map, reached by travelling rather than by walking.
Unlock a zone when your gear can handle it, not when you can afford the ticket. The beginner guide sets up the training and pen loop that funds travel, and the auras guide covers the stamina multiplier that decides which zone you can actually ride in.
Jurassic Airlines: the Travel System
The airline panel in the official video is the clearest single piece of information the game gives you. It is titled JURASSIC AIRLINES and the header reads "Buy once. Fly forever." with your current cash shown in the corner, and the footer says "Choose your next adventure."
| Airline pass | Species tier | Zone | Terrain | Cash price | Robux price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hopper | Pteranodon | Zone 3 | Desert | $25M | 90 |
| Frostwing | Tier 3 Pteranodon | Zone 5 | Snow | $1B | 180 |
| Canopy Cruiser | Tier 4 Pteranodon | Zone 6 | Giant Forest | $50B | 360 |
| Abyss Glider | Tier 5 Pteranodon | Zone 7 | Abyss Ocean | $500B | 630 |
Two things stand out. First, the passes are permanent purchases, not tickets: the tagline literally says buy once, fly forever. Second, the Robux prices scale with the tier of the Pteranodon skin you buy, not with the difficulty of the destination, which means the airline is also a cosmetic upgrade track.
The top of the screen shows the travel state during a flight, with a bar reading "JURASSIC AIRLINES" on the left and the destination on the right, then "NOW ARRIVING" once you land. During the flight you keep playing, which is why a long Abyss Ocean trip is not dead time.
Every pass has a cash price that a mid-game ranch can afford, and the cash price unlocks the same permanent travel. The Robux price is a shortcut, not an upgrade. If you buy all four passes with Robux you spend 1,260 Robux for something your pens can eventually pay for on their own.
Which Era to Unlock First
The order that works is driven by income, not by geography:
- Desert, Zone 3. The Hopper pass at $25M is the cheapest airline purchase in the panel and Zone 3 sits early in the zone order, so this is the first destination a new ranch should aim at.
- Snow, Zone 5. The Frostwing pass costs $1B. By the time your pens are earning at that scale you have the machines and the aura to handle the harder rides Snow contains.
- Giant Forest, Zone 6. $50B for the Canopy Cruiser. This is where the Forest badge lives, so it doubles as a milestone unlock.
- Abyss Ocean, Zone 7. $500B for the Abyss Glider, the most expensive travel in the panel and the first stop for players chasing the rarest spawns.
