Undertale Adventures X Beginner Guide

Undertale Adventures X is a tower defense game built on Undertale characters, and its early game is a resource puzzle rather than a combat puzzle. You summon Units with Souls, you assign four roles across your team, and you clear Acts that pay a fixed bundle of Souls, XP, Gold and Underpass XP. Get the order right and the first two hours are smooth; get it wrong and you spend a week replaying Ruins.

  • First move — redeem codes and claim the group reward before summoning
  • Summon cost — around 50 Souls per pull by the old wiki's count
  • Team roles — damage, support, economy, coverage
  • Best early farm — Ruins Acts, which pay the same 50 Souls as later areas
  • Lobby — ten facilities, but only five matter at the start

Step 1: Claim Free Resources Before You Spend Anything

Two free piles exist and both should be collected before your first summon.

Codes. The codes page tracks the current strings. One code, MOREFREESTUFF, is reported to pay 1,000 Souls plus 25 Trait Rerolls and three Gaster Hands. Even if that specific code has expired by the time you read this, the expired archive shows the pattern: this game hands out Souls in large chunks through codes, and a new player who ignores them starts several summons behind.

The group reward. Undertale Adventures X is developed by the group Side Productions, groupId 34323581, with 82,095 members and a Roblox verification badge. Joining a developer group in Roblox typically unlocks a one-time reward, and this group is the first-party channel where new codes are announced.

Souls are the summon currency, so early Souls are early Units

Every Soul you spend on something that is not a summon delays your first real team. Do not spend the starting pile on cosmetics or rerolls until you have a team that can clear Ruins Act 4.

Step 2: Understand What Summoning Actually Gives You

Summoning is the core loop. You spend Souls, you get a Unit, and the Unit is one of six rarity bands: Common, Rare, Ultra Rare, Legendary Rare, Mythical or Secret.

The old wiki for the previous version of this game lists the price at 50 Souls per pull, and describes the pool as pulling characters from Ruins, Snowdin, Waterfall or Hotland. That price is from an older build and should be treated as approximate, but the structure — a flat Soul cost per pull with a region-linked pool — is consistent with how the current game presents summoning.

Duplicates are part of the system. In tower defense games of this genre, duplicate Units usually feed upgrades or evolution, and Undertale Adventures X has both an evolution item category and a "Units2" page on its community wiki, which is the usual sign of a duplicate-based progression track. The game does not publish the exact duplicate conversion, so treat this as a structural expectation rather than a number.

Step 3: Build Around Four Roles, Not Four Strongest Units

The most common beginner mistake is fielding the four highest-rarity Units you own. A team of four Mythical damage dealers loses to a team that covers four jobs.

The four roles that matter:

  • Damage dealer — the Unit that actually kills waves. Highest upgrade priority.
  • Support or utility — buffs, debuffs and control. Medium priority, but it is what makes the damage dealer survive.
  • Economy Unit — accelerates your in-run income. Medium priority, and badly underrated early because it pays for every other upgrade.
  • Coverage Unit — multi-target or area damage for dense waves. High priority once waves get crowded.

This role framework is a methodology, not a published stat table. The game does not print DPS numbers for its Units, so the way you find out which of your Units is a damage dealer is by watching a wave and seeing which health bar moves.

The Units list has every confirmed name by rarity, and the tier list ranks the top bands.

Step 4: Learn the Lobby Before You Queue

The lobby has ten facilities: Play, Shop, Infinite, Upgrades, Raids, Gauntlet, PVP, Trading Hub, AFK Chamber, Challenges.

Five of them matter in your first session:

Play is the story. This is where Acts live.

Upgrades is where traits are rolled. The wiki's own text is: "Here, you can roll Traits on your units, as well as (roll Stats)." Traits are the difference between a Unit that works and a Unit that carries, so this is the second-most important screen after Play.

Shop sells items for currency. The community wiki still has a placeholder for its stock list, so no reliable item table exists.

AFK Chamber pays out items on a timer while you stand in it. It is free value and there is no reason not to use it between runs.

Infinite is the endless mode and the place to test whether your team has real DPS. Do not treat it as a beginner farm; it scales until your team breaks.

Step 5: Farm Ruins, Because It Pays the Same Souls

This is the single most useful economic fact in the game. Every Act in every area pays 50 Souls, 5 Underpass XP and 10 Gold. The XP scales — Ruins pays 100 XP per Act while Snowdin, Waterfall, Hotland and CORE pay 150 — but the Soul payout does not.

That means the efficient early farm is not the highest area you can reach; it is the fastest Act you can clear reliably. A Ruins Act you finish in a third of the time pays the same Souls as a Waterfall Act you barely survive.

The drop tables also improve with Act number. Ruins Act 1 has a 2% chance at Spider Donut and Cinnamon Bunny; Ruins Act 6 has a 10% chance at both. So the sweet spot is the highest Ruins Act you can clear quickly, not Act 1 forever.

The full reward table is on the Souls and Gold guide.

Step 6: Understand Neutral versus Genocide

Every area has Acts 1 through 6, and every area splits into two routes: Neutral and Genocide. The route changes the difficulty and the rewards.

The Corridor page spells out the difference at the end of the game: on Genocide, killing the Sans boss has a 10% chance to spawn Dust Sans (Corridor), and killing that spawn removes the dodge mechanic and grants the Unit. On Neutral, the fight is the standard version.

For a new player the rule is simple: clear Neutral first. Genocide routes are harder and their unique rewards are usually Unit drops that a beginner team cannot use yet. The zones guide has the area order and the gimmicks.

Step 7: Do Not Chase the Battlepass

You may see videos about an "Undertale Adventures X battlepass." As of October 15, 2026, a third-party wiki that tracks the game states plainly that no official battlepass system is documented, and advises treating unverified leaks with caution.

What is confirmed is the existing reward loop: story stages, periodic events, farming runs, raids and codes. Those are enough to progress without a pass.

A Realistic First Session

If you have one hour, do this in order:

  1. Redeem the codes that are live.
  2. Join the Side Productions group.
  3. Summon until you have four Units you can field.
  4. Roll traits on your best damage Unit once.
  5. Clear Ruins Acts 1 through 4 on Neutral.
  6. Spend the Souls on one more summon.
  7. Stand in the AFK Chamber while you read the Units list.

That sequence gets you a working team, a feel for the combat, and enough Souls for a second pull without wasting a single Act.

Do I need the battlepass? No official battlepass is confirmed to exist. Progress comes from story Acts, events, raids and codes.

What is the AFK Chamber for? It pays out items on a timer while you are in it. It is free value between runs.
