How to reroll Candy Kingdom Defense traits with Rainbow Crystals, what each crystal bundle costs in Gems, and when rerolling is worth it.
Candy Kingdom Defense Reroll and Crystals
Rerolling is the heart of Candy Kingdom Defense. The developer's description lists it as one of three core verbs alongside summoning and levelling: you "Level up your squad, reroll for Mythic traits like Oh My Glob". The economics of this page are the difference between a squad that works and a squad that looks good on the roster screen.

The Reroll Items
The game's inventory panel lists the items you use to change a hero, and the headline item is the Rainbow Crystal, marked Epic in the panel. Its own description reads "Re-roll your best Trait on any unit", with a hint that Rainbow Crystals are among the most valuable items in the game and a SHOW ME button that takes you straight to where you use them.
The same panel groups the other consumables beside it:
- Trait Crystals — the currency for rerolling traits at Castle Lemongrab.
- Random Crystal — the lower-tier reroll item, alongside the Rainbow Crystal.
- Units of Juice — the feeding currency, and the reward attached to the RELEASE code.
- XP Candies — the levelling currency.
- Enchiridion Pages — the evolution currency, used by the Enchiridion book.
Crystal Bundles and What They Cost
The GET CRYSTALS column on the Castle Lemongrab panel shows the price of Trait Crystals in Gems:
| Bundle | Gems | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| x5 | 25 | 5 Gems per crystal |
| x15 | 65 | About 4.3 Gems per crystal |
| x50 | 189 | About 3.8 Gems per crystal, marked POPULAR |
| x150 | 499 | About 3.3 Gems per crystal, marked BEST VALUE |
Two things to take from that table. First, the bundles get cheaper per crystal the bigger they are, so buying 150 at once is the best rate in the game by roughly a third. Second, x5 is the trap: 25 Gems for five crystals is the worst rate on the list, and it exists to catch the player who is short on Gems right after a summon.
The panel also shows 24 TRAIT CRYSTALS as the running total in the Castle Lemongrab header, so the game tracks your stock of crystals separately from your Gems.
The x150 bundle is the best rate, but committing 499 Gems to random rolls is a bad plan for a hero you will not use. Work out your target first, then buy. The traits guide has the odds that decide whether a reroll is even worth attempting.
When a Reroll Is Worth It
Rerolling is worth it when the expected gain beats the cost, and the odds table makes that maths concrete.
Worth it on a hero in your active six. The tier list defines which heroes fill which slots, and those heroes are the ones whose traits affect every run you play. A reroll there improves your win rate across every stage.
Worth it on a hero whose current trait is dead weight. Thrifty at 12% reduces what something costs, which is a poor trait on a hero that never buys anything. Rolling again on that hero is cheap value.
Not worth it on a bench hero. A hero outside your six contributes nothing today. Rolling on a bench hero is a hobby, not an investment.
Not worth it for a common trait. Sharp at 18% and Stretchy at 18% are easy to get. If your hero already has one of those, the expected improvement from rolling again is small.
The Cheap Way to Improve a Hero
Rerolling is not the only lever, and the cheapest improvements come first:
- Level it. XP Candies from matches and codes. Free in the sense that matches pay them out.
- Feed it. Feeding a duplicate hero is a supported upgrade path, and the quest list includes "Feed your heroes 3 times" as an early objective.
- Evolve it. Evolution is a separate track that climbs a hero from Common to Mythic, and it does not cost a single Trait Crystal. The evolution guide covers the material requirements.
- Reroll it. Last, and only for a hero you already rely on.
That order matters because evolution is free of the reroll economy. A hero at Mythic evolution stage with a Sharp trait may be worth more in your squad than a hero at Rare stage with Oh My Glob.
What Changes the Odds
Two of the seven passes touch this system directly:
- VIP, 349 Robux, gives "better trait odds at Castle Lemongrab" along with cheaper summons and a chat tag. If you reroll constantly, this is the pass that changes the expected value of every roll.
- Lucky Summons, 399 Robux, doubles Mythic odds and multiplies Legendary odds by 1.5 on the summon side, which reduces how often you need to reroll in the first place.
Both are covered in the gamepasses guide, alongside the Starter Pack that includes 20 Trait Crystals for a one-off 79 Robux.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you reroll a trait in Candy Kingdom Defense? Open Castle Lemongrab, select a hero, and use the REROLL TRAIT button with Trait Crystals.
What does a Rainbow Crystal do? Its panel description says it re-rolls your best trait on any unit, and it is listed as an Epic item.
How much do Trait Crystals cost? 25 Gems for 5, 65 for 15, 189 for 50, or 499 for 150. The larger bundles cost less per crystal.
Is rerolling better than summoning? For a hero you already own, usually yes, because you can choose when to stop. Summons are random and the rates are not published.
Can I reroll a hero that is not in my squad? The interface allows it, but the results do not help your runs. Reroll the six you actually deploy.
